Week 1 EOC: Discussion Questions

1. What is fashion branding? How does branding establish a products identity?
Fashion branding is a way to establish a company. The way it looks, feels, how people perceive the brand. It also creates a different experience and feeling because fashion branding is different from any type of branding. Fashion branding can also represent the image of a service that the brand is giving. An example of fashion branding is Christian Louboutin, he is famous for his red soles and that is how he brands his name. Because he has the red sole within the shoe it stands apart from any shoe brand on the market because it targets a specific type of consumer that recognizes the brand.

2. How are companies able to sell like T-shirts, jeans, and sunglasses at high prices? Can you give an example of another item sold in the luxury market that might not have been traditionally perceived as a luxury good?
Companies that are able to sell expensive T-shirts, Jeans, and sunglasses were already established through branding themselves in an excellent way. If you gave any luxury goods establishment socks they would be able to sell those socks in a heartbeat, because of how they carry the brand. It also depends where they get the fabric from as well.

3. Race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation play a part in purchasing decisions.Identify three consumer groups that are different from you. In your opinion, do they differ from each other with regard to fashions and the types of brands they purchase? Why or why not?
Three groups different from me would be African-Americans, Females, and Mormons. They all dress a different way from how I dress. Either way everyone purchases something different that represents my style. Females tend to over spend, African-Americans tend to go on the inexpensive side of fashion, and Mormons tend to overspend on more conservative clothing. As for me I tend to find things inexpensive and expensive to create a different style. Overall everyone's purchasing ideas are different so we can't expect the same thing.
